What That Place Name or Ethnic Signifier Means For The Food You're Ordering
California: Avocado, “spinach tortilla” (flavorless), possibly black beans
Southwestern: Chipotle mayo, corn, possibly black beans
Baltimore/Maryland: Old Bay seasoning, ‘krab’, trace amounts of actual crab (it’s from China and has been in the freezer for a while now)
Bayou/Cajun: Trace amounts of paprika and cayenne pepper
Texas: Queso, barbecue sauce, local organic heirloom vegetables lightly roasted in fair-trade olive oil (lol jk)
Chicago: Imagine if a pizza was involved in a horrific trainwreck
Philly: Fried meat, fake cheese, deep-seated yet ill-defined anger, possibly scrapple
New York: Those hipster-types think they’re soooo special, well guess what, we can put pastrami on bread too! (The bread came out of a bag and the pastrami is made from turkey sweepings)
Pittsburgh: Inside southwestern Pennsylvania – cheese, breaded chicken, and ranch on a salad. Outside of southwestern PA – probably an insult.
